CANCELLING PMI

In most cases, lenders will allow you to cancel PMI coverage when your home equity reaches twenty percent, meaning that the loan amount is no more than eighty percent of the value of the home. Each lender’s guidelines and process to remove PMI are different, and when you reach that point you should contact the lender that services your loan to see what it will require. In most cases, the lender will require at least an appraisal of the home to verify the amount of equity that you have built up.
